CONVERSATION SWAP

Instructions

  1. Identify two topics of conversation. Examples could include weekend activities, sports, a favorite movie or show, etc.

  2. Pick which student will be the first “talker” and who will be the first “listener(s)”

  3. The first talker begins to talk about the first topic, and at some point the listener will say “swap”

  4. When someone says “swap” the talker must change to the other conversation topic until someone says “swap” again

  5. After this, the talker must return to the first conversation topic

  6. The goal is to continue to swap the conversation topic to see how long the talker can talk without repeating information or losing their train of thought.

  7. When the first talker gets stuck, pick 2 new topics and switch roles.

Modifications:

*Once students become comfortable with swapping conversations, have them try this with content - especially something with multiple perspectives
