MULTILINGUAL LABELS
Curricular materials and instruction in most classrooms are monolingual. This is problematic because it can lead to the misconception that students who speak other languages and are learning English are “struggling.” It also often results in an assumption that people who speak other languages are “less than” people who speak the dominant language. To combat this source of bias, consider labeling classroom materials in multiple languages, and/or providing translated materials. There are many paid online resources for translating classroom materials. The resources below are free.
